In the beginning of January 2009, BGCO was informed that we were losing
twenty members whose parents were laid off from work and cannot afford to send
their children to attend after school programs. Despite the economic difficulties,
BGCO was quick to give aid to our members and their families who are challenged
in these most trying times. We do whatever we can to keep our kids in a positive
place. The saddest thing that we would have to witness is lose our kids to gangs and
prohibited drugs.
In 2008, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s “One Campaign” raised
$70,000 and awarded membership scholarships to 350 youth in Oceanside. One
hundred percent of the contributions go toward programs and membership scholarships.
This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 through the help of the club’s board members,
staff and community volunteers. Help us reach our goal. It would only take one
